Such unwelcome plants seem to just continually appear, choking the desirable ones by reducing their productivity as they also compete for nourishment. Weeds are also relatively hard to get rid of (Mt 13:22).  In the spiritual sense, weeds are those things in our lives that would seek to rob us

What steps will I take today to remove the weeds from my life?

of the potential we have ‘in Christ’ to live Godly lives. They often need persistence to deal with effectively.  Be vigilant by guarding against the input of bad ‘seed’ into your life (especially through the visual senses) which soon sprout into impure thoughts and may develop into wrong actions (Mt 13:24-30,36-43, 15:19). Deal with the weeds while they are small as they are easier to eradicate, and certainly before they have had time to seed and multiply, for seeds are designed to reproduce after their own kind. What are the weeds (vices of bad behaviour) in my life that I need to deal with?

It is essential to intentionally nourish what we value and purposefully starve or destroy what is undesirable. The Bible uses terms such as "desire pure spiritual food" and "put to death what is of the old life" (Rom 12:2; 1 Cor 9:27; 2 Cor 5:17, 10:4,5; Gal 2:20; Eph 4:22-24; 1 Pet 2:2; 2 Pet 3:18).
