Transhumanism
Man cannot program sin out
transform humanity beyond its current physiology and limitations to be completely sovereign and capable of self-directed change, and even immortality without the need for God (Jer 17:9). While there are spiritually acceptable means of improving our conditions through technology (such as hearing aids and joint replacement), there are God ordained limits and our ability can't compare to that of our creator (Job 38:2-5). Endeavouring to bring about biotechnical improvements by merging humans and machines to the point where we could lose our identity as human beings is a major ethical concern. God created us He intended, and although sin has wrecked havoc, His design for us does not require tampering with especially what overrides human reasoning. Transhumanism is largely focused on the physical dimension, while God is more interested in our character and especially our spiritual condition. Even though mankind has made astonishing advances in many areas of life, we are still flawed and require a Saviour – the most vital need that can not be remedied in any other way except through Jesus Christ (Jn 14:6; 1 Jn 1:8). We can get to heaven with a less than perfect body but certainly not without coming into a salvation experience through Christ.
