Rod

<<stick or staff>>

Moses and Aaron had rods, symbolic of divine authority, whereby God performed miracles (Ex 7:8-20, 9:23, 14:16).

Rods or walking sticks commonly provided support for travelers, shepherds and old men (Gen 32:10; Ex 4:2; Mk 6:8; Heb 11:21).  Rod or poles were used to transport the OT ark and this is the name given to an instrument used to administer correction or discipline (Ex 25:13-15; Prov 23:13,14).
