On numerous occasions Paul mentioned his intentions of coming to visit the various churches (Rom 15:24; 1 Cor 16:5-8; 2 Cor 1:16). Once he said, prepare a guest room for me (Phm 1:22). Later, when under house arrest, he welcomed all who came to see him (Act 28:30).

Do I welcome others into my home making them feel comfortable and accepted? The Bible states that some people, through showing hospitality to strangers, have in fact entertained angels without realising it (Heb 13:2). Abraham, Gideon and Manoah each had this experience (Gen 18:1ff; Jdg 6:11ff, 13:2ff). Even if your home is simple and

plain, by showing love and providing the necessities of life you bless those who come. Showing friendly hospitality and being helpful enriches your life and broadens your perspective as you share your life with those of different locations, nationality or culture. When I stay at the home of another, do I respect their resources, courtesy and accommodation, and help as appropriate? Leaving a small gift or a letter of appreciation with the offer of a reciprocal visit makes your gratitude clear.
