Sake

<<in the interest of>>

Sometimes prayers end with ‘for the sake of Jesus Christ’ meaning for His cause, benefit and glory.

What we give up for His sake or because of following Him will be rewarded (Mt 10:39, 19:29). Paul said, “What I once considered of value, I now consider of no worth for the sake of Christ” (Phil 3:7). “He guides me for His name’s sake [or reputation]” (Ps 23:3).

Ungodly people sometimes say ‘for God’s sake…’ which is an obscenity of frustration.
