“Perfume brings joy to the heart” (Prov 27:9; SOS 1:3). However, “charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting” so “a good name is better than fine perfume” (Prov 31:30; Eccl 7:1). We humans often put undue attention on the visible sensory body, neglecting the ‘real us’ within (1 Sam 16:7).
Makeup should be pleasing and attractive but not provocative
right perspective – the outer additions enhancing the inner foundation qualities. Undue time and money focused on the external indicates the priorities are out of balance.
