Channel: Being a Conduit for Divine Blessing

A channel does not hoard what it carries – it is only a means of communication or distribution with the focus on what it conveys.

Understanding the Channel Concept

We are to be a channel or conduit through which the Lord can flow to bless others. To a large degree He has limited His involvement with the unsaved to what comes from us, His representatives – He wants to love through our love.

Do I faithfully allow Christ to flow through me to others?

Removing Obstructions

Deal with the obstructions of sin that would hinder the flow of divine life from the source to where it is needed. Plug up the leaks and remove the diversions so Christ is reflected accurately as we interact with people, both those inside and presently outside the Kingdom.

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Eph 2:10). This means the blessings and love we have received from God are to be passed on to others (Mk 12:31; 1 Pet 4:10,11; 1 Jn 4:7-11). As we can only give out from the input we have received we must open ourselves up to the Lord and be filled with the Spirit, so we can give out from that uplifting life-changing source (Jn 7:37,38; Eph 3:19, 5:18). Submit yourself humbly and obediently to God, for Him to work through. Do not accept any credit for what God does. Have the attitude of having only done what was expected of you (Lk 17:10).

Being a Vessel for Blessing

We are called to be vessels through which God's grace and love flow to others. This requires humility, availability, and a willingness to be used by God for His purposes. The channel must remain open and clear, allowing the divine flow to reach those who need it most.

The channel concept reminds us that we are not the source but the conduit. Our role is to faithfully transmit what we have received, ensuring that the message remains pure and untainted as it passes through our lives to impact others.

Flowing with the Spirit

To be effective channels, we must continually be filled with the Spirit, allowing His life to flow through us naturally and powerfully. This requires intentional communion with God and a heart willing to be used for His glory.

As we abide in Christ, His life flows through us like a river, bringing refreshment and life to dry and thirsty souls. The channel becomes a source of blessing wherever it goes.

Reflection and Application:

  • Am I allowing God's love to flow through me to others, or am I blocking the flow with pride, fear, or selfishness?
  • What obstructions in my life need to be removed so that divine life can flow freely through me?
  • Am I more focused on being the source or being the channel for God's blessings?
  • How can I remain continually filled with the Spirit so that I have something to give to others?
