Book of Life

<<register of those who will be in heaven>>

It is also called the Lamb’s book of life because it contains the names of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Lamb of God) and because they are walking with God (Lk 10:20; Jn 1:29; Phil 4:3; Rev 3:5, 20:12, 21:27). This is the only list

Is my name recorded there?

in the universe where it is imperative that our name appears, for those whose names are not recorded in this book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire and experience eternal death (Rev 20:15).

How does a person's name get written in the book of life? It is through being saved — repenting of sin and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour and endeavouring live by His rules (Phil 4:3; Rev 3:5).

There is much debate over this controversial issue of is it possible for a person's name to be erased from the book of life, after falling into sin and continuing in a wilful sinful lifestyle? We do not want to give a wrong impression or be held responsible for stating a person is guaranteed eternal life, who having said the sinners prayer at one time and subsequently shows very little evidence of being a "new creature in Christ" (2 Cor 5:17). "God knows those who are His and everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness" (2 Tim 2:19).
