AD

From the Latin, Anno Domini, meaning “in the year of the Lord”—from the time of Jesus’ birth until the present (as opposed to BC, which is “Before Christ”). Any date designated as BC is marked accordingly (e.g., 50 BC), so any date without such notation is understood to be in the current AD era. Jews often refer to this as CE—Common Era.
